RAIN technology has proved highly effective and is increasingly used in many sectors. Consequently, the number of RAIN tags in circulation increases significantly every year. During inventory, it's not uncommon to capture RAIN tags that don't belong to your application. While this can be easily managed today, it will become a real problem over time. These unwanted “clutter” tags slow down inventory and, more problematically, prevent the capture of some interesting tags. At the same time, we are seeing more and more RAIN applications requiring RAIN tags to carry not only a unique identifier, but also additional information. How to focus on these tags and effectively capture this data is becoming a challenge. Based on lessons learned from over 10 years of deploying RAIN applications, a new air interface protocol has been designed and recently released. Come and find out how this new GS1 standard can help meet today's RAIN challenges.

The GPC Standards Maintenance Group maintains and improves the GS1 Global Product Classification (GPC) standard.

The GS1 Global Product Classification (GPC) standard helps global trading partners to group products in the same way, everywhere in the world. The resulting common business language is clear and instantly understandable. More information about the GPC Standard can be found here: https://www.gs1.org/standards/gpc.

The business benefits of using GPC gives buyers and sellers a common language for talking about their products – within countries and regions as well as across the world, improves data accuracy and integrity, speeds up the supply chain responsiveness to consumer needs and simplifies reporting across product categories.

As part of the GS1 Healthcare strategy 2023-2027, GS1 Healthcare has been working on determining if and how GS1 standards would apply to emerging technologies and healthcare treatments like smart pills, bioprinting, augmented reality or nano medicine.

One of the product groups that GS1 Healthcare believes should be further explored is personalised / precision medicine. Together with experts from the industry, we are building on understanding of industry needs regarding product identification, data capture and data sharing for personalised / precision medicine to maximise patient outcomes, including improved operational efficiency. During this session we will have industry needs mapped and plan to discuss where GS1 standards apply in the process, potential gaps and next steps to ensure the GS1 standards support a safe and efficient personalised / precision medicine traceability.
